Assembly of God serves Free City-Wide Dinner - August 16, 2009

Press release

East Tawas Assembly of God Church presents its 4th Free City-Wide Dinner on Friday Aug. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. This month’s theme is Sizzlin’ Summer and dinner includes meats and cheese sub sandwiches. Toppings will include tomatoes, lettuce, onion, mayonnaise, mustard, etc. Also to be served are summer salads including potato salad and pasta salad. For dessert there will be cupcakes to complete this perfect summer time meal for the hot sizzling days of summer.

This month is the fourth in a series of monthly meals the church is providing to the community free of charge. According to Pastor Jim Westheim these meals are “for bringing the city together in tough times, one meal at a time. It is just our way to love on the people of our community.”

Each month, in home cooks, prepare main dishes, side dishes, beverages, and desserts. The meals are served at the church, located at 311 E. Lincoln Street in East Tawas. The meals are served “no strings attached”. Everyone needs to eat so everyone is invited to attend. Sized to serve 200 people, the meals are free and no economic requirements need be met. Anyone from the Tawas area or surrounding areas are invited and welcomed to attend.

Upcoming dates for other Free City-Wide Dinners are Mexican on Sept. 25, Harvest on Oct. 23, and Pilgrim's Thanksgiving Thursday on Nov. 26. Dinners are held at East Tawas Assembly of God Church at 311 E. Lincoln St. from 5 to 7 p.m.
